  • What to expect from this course?

    Online course consists of six lessons from urban sketchers and illustrators Angese Aljena and Masha Zurikova. They will show you how to create travel sketches with ink and watercolor. Be sure - this course will change the way you travel! Now instead of tons of photos you will be able to bring from your trip or holiday sketchbook full of memories, smells and sounds. The course will show you how to work with minimal set of tools and how to create a dynamic composition. They will explain basic principles of perspective that are crucial for urban sketching. They will show you how to link theoretical knowledge about perspective to practical sketching on site. During these lessons you will create three dimensional sketches with ink and watercolor. This course will help you understand how to transfer views in front of you to flat piece of paper. The course will explain how to create sketches using the rules of both one-point perspective and two-point perspective, how to find your horizon line and vanishing points. Both in theory and in practice. The course includes detailed instructions that will help you either begin sketching while on the go, or get better by improving you perspective skills. The course includes six assignments. Everyone enrolled in the course will have to post their assignment into the closed Facebook group (link will be provided via e-mail). After completion of assignments everyone will receive detailed feedback from our instructors in three business day time after your submission. You will have one week to complete your works. The Facebook group will be used to create the space for questions and support from fellow learners. The course starts on 1 March 2021 and new videos will be released each week on Monday util 29 March 2021. You will have time until 5 April 2021 to finalise your assignments.

  • Who could be interested in the course?

    This course will be interesting for both those who have never held a brush in their hands and for those who sketch regularly. For beginners it will be a good first impression on what perspective and composition in urban sketching is about. For experienced sketchers - you will learn new tips and tricks and see ink and wash sketching from a different perspective.

  • What materials will I need?

    - a sketchbook with watercolor paper or two sheets of watercolor paper (cold pressed, 300 g/m2); - a pencil; - ink pen or rapidograph with water proof black ink; - black brushpen; - an eraser; - a set of watercolors; - several brushes of different sizes and shapes; -white gel pen or white pencil
